Diploma in Exercise Science

Certified Functional Movement Screen Level 1

I am fascinated by the evolution of human movement and the long term effects poor form has on the body. After years of education, experience, research and fine tuning, I have created an effective system, which is too valuable not to share.

My interest sparked years ago studying martial arts; there were very few injuries with such an aggressive sport. Technique is paramount. Following my completion of the Diploma in Exercise Science and years as a Personal Trainer, I was seeing the same patterns of injury caused by poor technique and movement. There was such a push on getting strong and being fit without laying a good foundation.

My discovery of Gray Cook’s Functional Movement Screen changed everything. On opening my own gym studio in 2013, and using these systematic techniques to assess movement patterns and corrective exercises to strengthen and mobilise areas of the body, there has been acceleration of results for my clients.

I am excited to show you what you can achieve with your body.

To put it simply, I’m a human adaptation enthusiast. Since I was young I’ve always been fascinated by what the human body is capable of through years of hard work and dedication. Our bodies’ capabilities are a reflection of the stimuli that surround us or that we place ourselves into.

After learning of the completely unfathomable amount of weight old time strong men were capable of moving even in a pre-steroid era, a passion for strength training began. During my journey I’ve had to learn the hard way that movement quality precedes movement quantity. I paid the price by having to spend a lot of time rehabilitating my own movement patterns, which could have been time spent slowly getting stronger. Upon completion of my Certificate in Exercise Science and discovery of Pure Movement in 2017, I realised I had another passion for rehabilitation and movement quality in a broad sense.

I am excited to continue broadening my knowledge and horizons while studying for my Diploma in Exercise Science and working with Pure Movement this year. The works of Pavel Tsatsouline, Dan John, Chad Wesley Smith and Josh Bryant have served as a huge inspiration to me thus far. And learning how Gray Cook’s work ties everything together in a fundamental sense is only making me thirstier for more knowledge and experience.

You’ll be surprised what you’re capable of.
